CONTEMPLATIVE RETREATS
Contemplative retreats are being offered at Mount Mary in Ancaster and will entail an overnight stay. Specifics with respect to what to bring will be provided to registered participants prior to each retreat.

This retreat is being offered to system level staff supporting student achievement, special education needs and well-being.
SILENT RETREAT “THE FIRST LANGUAGE OF GOD IS SILENCE.” (ST. JOHN OF THE CROSS)
APRIL 13-14, 2018
This retreat will take place in the context of listening to God through silence. It is Phase II of the contemplative retreats that have been offered over the past two school years and is open to staff, clergy and parishioners, with priority given to current staff.

CONTEMPLATIVES IN OUR FAITH TRADITION FOR OUR TIMES
TIME: 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. (dinner provided at 5:30 p.m.)
LOCATION: Catholic Education Centre, Brantford
REGISTRATION FEE: $20 for non-BHNCDSB participants
FACILITATORS: Teresa and Paul Tratnyek
This session will focus on the lives of St. Francis and St. Clair of Assisi, St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross and the wisdom they bring as significant contemplatives for our times.
Teresa and Paul are alumni from The Living School for Action and Contemplation. They will share their learnings and practice as a nurse and teacher, respectively.

CONTEMPLATIVE PRACTICES
THEOLOGY ON TAP - “WALK HUMBLY WITH GOD – AN INNER AND OUTER RESPONSE TO LOVE”
THURSDAY, MAY 3, 2018
TIME: 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. (complimentary appetizers provided; cash bar)
LOCATION: Springview Farm Golf Course, Waterford
FACILITATOR: Fr. Paul Massel
Fr. Paul will share his story, moving from the world of professional theatre and the Phantom of the Opera to Priesthood and care for the poor in Uganda and the Philippines. He will share how God calls each of us to respond with compassion and humility to those right in front of us.
Fr. Paul Massel has been widely acclaimed in Canada and the United States for his performances in opera, music theatre and the concert stage, including a five-year run in the Phantom of the Opera. His studies in palliative care, clinical pastoral education and hheology, culminated in a Master of Divinity degree, followed by his ordination to the priesthood in 2000. He is presently Faith Animator and Board Chaplain for the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board.
